Walking through the busy platform filled with both Muggles and Wizards, he was indifferent to the queer looks passersby were shooting him. People in odd form-fitting clothes stared at them, up until now not used to seeing Wizards ride the train. Perhaps, it’s the fact that they do not have any knowledge or whatsoever about their kind. Not that it did matter of course. One’s life can go by unnoticed by anybody.
Nearing the brick wall that serves as a barrier between platforms 9 and 10, Marcellus saw a rather petite young girl, roughly at the age of between 12 and 14. Now of all the people of various shapes, sizes and looks, how come this little girl was the only one successful enough to avert his attention from his monotonous wandering? Possibly, it was because of the scene her striking white blonde hair made and where she was standing. She was standing directly at the wall he was supposed to go through with a lost look in her eyes, as if she had no idea what to do and has effectively blocked anyone from entering wordlessly.
“Excuse me, but have you any problem about getting through? If you don’t, then I’m afraid that I have to ask you to move aside so I may go on with my existence,” he said in a slightly rude and annoyed tone.

She was lost. It hadn't helped that her aunt and uncle had given her vague directions. She technically knew where to go, but it had been a long time in her mind and so the thought of remembering was very hard indeed. She stood out in the train station even though she was smaller than most everyone in the whole room. She stood at less than five feet in height. Her features were clearly Asian and childish, but her hair was snow white.
Fiona looked down at the letter in her hands. "Nine and three-quarters," she murmured the words outloud to herself. She knew that the way to get to the platform was here somewhere. She just couldn't remember where. It was an important detail though. She recalled that much. If she could find someone who knew the way in, that would make things easier. She turned to look at the people around her and reconsidered. Most of them, if they looked her way, gave her odd looks. She didn't like them. She would rather avoid peoople who looked at her like that.
A young man spoke to her. It took her mind a moment to translate the words. The tone she had understood, but forgotten once she grasped the words "Ai! Goemen! Uh-I am sorry. I cannot remember how to get onto the platform." She told him with an apologetic smile.

The bashful face of the Asian girl made him sigh. He shouldn’t have snootily barked at her. He closed his eyes after her stuttering, as expected she didn’t speak English that fluently. When he looked at her again his temper had calmed a bit down. As patient as he can be he said, “I ask pardon for my uncivil manner,” he cleared his throat and continued, “Can’t remember how to get through you say?”
He stepped back from her, setting a comfortable distance between them. “It’s just simple really. But getting through without them noticing ,” he said inclining his head towards the throngs of Muggles, “now that’s the tricky part.” He tucked his hands into the pockets of his brown trench coat. “Why won’t you try?” he asked her and went on to give out the instructions. “Just walk straight into the barrier and it should grant you entrance. Don’t let your steps falter or fret about anything, just carry on walking.” The girl shot the brick wall behind her a calculating look. It was clear in the uncertainty in her eyes that it was her first time to pass through the King’s Cross Station. He could understand somewhat, it wasn’t really exciting to collide with a solid and very hard wall. Marcellus looked around him and saw that the crowd had thinned down around them. “Quick, go on.”

He spoke formally like she did and that made her smile. Few people spoke like she did. She usually received strange looks for how she talked. She couldn't understand why though. She spoke properly and, quite honestly, better than most people. Maybe it was that that offended them most. That she had known their language for less time, but spoke it correctly while they could not. That was a mean though and she queickly banished it.
She looked at the wall uncertain. Magic did lots of things she knew, but those illusions were brilliant! She was going to have to be brave though. Her family would be ashamed if they saw her acting like this. Fiona sighed. There was nothing for it really. She took a deep breath and propelled herself towards the wall. For a few nerve wracking moments she wasn't sure she would make it. And then she was through. Fiona looked around at the new platform and gave a little shout of triumph which earned her a few odd looks. Her face turned bright red, but she didn't stop smiling.

As he was talking to the girl, giving off instructions and such, she smiled out of the blue. He was a bit surprised, stopping for a few seconds. Marcellus had no idea what she was smiling about and did not intend to find out. Dismissing the thought, he continued to explain on how to get on the platform. After prompting her to pass the wall, she let out a deep sigh. Finally, it seemed that the girl has convinced herself and without warning tossed herself against the barrier.
As he expected, she went through easily and no Muggle had noticed her weird disappearance. Giving his surroundings yet another observant glance, he went after the girl once he made sure the coast was clear. Marcellus was greeted with the familiar scent of steam billowing out from the scarlet engine, the shouts of excitements of hordes of students and parents and the hoots of owls inside their cages. He straightened his coat and searched for his previous companion. There she was, standing at his left with a proud triumphant smile. He noticed color rising to her cheeks and inquired, “Why are you blushing?”

She was glad to see that the boy from before had come thorugh the barrier as well. It meant that she might have a companion. Maybe someone who wouldn't look at her strangely for her oddities. "I gave a cheer when I made it through to this side of the barrier," she confessed when he asked the question. There was no reason to lie about it. It was true, if a little embarassing. There was nothing to do for it though. It was merely a fact she had to live with.
She again surveyed the young man before her. He was a few years her senior, maybe around the same age as her sister. Though she could never be certain with other cultures. He could have been her age or maybe even in his final year at the school. She could not tell unless she was told quite honestly. "I am Yukimura Fiona," she said with a little bow reverting to the Japanese order of names even if not the langauge itself.

"I gave a cheer when I made it through to this side of the barrier."“Hmm,” he said nonchalantly, not much interested in her display of childishness even if he did ask.
"I am Yukimura Fiona."
He looked back at her, and saw her bowing to him. He raised a curious eyebrow and placed his hand on her shoulder, making her stand straight up. He didn’t want others to have a wrong impression. “Marcellus Desmond,” he said and went on walking towards the train. Remembering that he wasn’t alone, he looked back again and saw her standing looking lost again. He sighed and went back to her, “Where are you supposed to go kid? I can’t be around all day.” (OOC: I apologize for the late and short post.)

((I'm sorry too, I got busy with RL)) Marcellus was a good name. A new name for her too. She would have no trouble remembering it then. Marcellus Desmond. Though she couldn't understand why he had straightened her up from the boy. She gave him a questioning look before she remembered. Here they did not bow in greeting. They shook hands and hugged. Her face went bright red again. She could never seem to manage this place just right.
"To the train," she said simply. "This is my third year, but this is my first time alone. My parents do not like this, but I like it here. And I like being a Hufflepuff." Or Hufflepuff was what she tried to say. It came out slightly different though due to her accent. It had always had that affect on her speech.

“Well let us proceed then,” he said and turned around to continue to advance towards the train. Behind him, Marcellus can hear the shuffling feet of the girl closely following him. A proud smirk appeared on his face. So she liked being a Hufflepuff huh? He was glad to hear this for there were already few of them and most Hufflepuffs often dislike their own house.
He faced her and asked, “No luggage? If you haven’t got anything with you, find an empty compartment for us.” He ordered the little girl and stepped back so she could get in and follow his command. Surely she would undoubtedly follow him. And this will also do her good, he reasoned to himself, she needs to learn how to fend for herself this early. But really, he was just taking advantage of the moment.

Fiona nodded and followed after him. She found herself attached to Marcellus. He was helping her and probably being kind in his own way. She liked that. Most people ignored her or tried to correct her language at every turn. He hadn't done that once. It made her quite happy. "No I have nothing with me." She confessed, her dark eyes watching him carefully.
"Yes of course!" She didn't mind hearing the order. After all, it was only logical. She was quite happy to scamper into the train to look for any vacant places. She wanted to make sure she had a seat probalby as much as Marcellus did. It was...she forgot the exact phrase. Something to do with birds and stones. She shrugged it off though and found an empty compartment in the middle of the train and set her bag inside before turning wondering if she should find Marcellus and bring him back to the room. Fiona dashed into the train and willingly did his bidding. He calmly walked after her and surveyed his surroundings, watching as other students piled up in compartments and stuff their things overhead. Marcellus kept an eye out for Fiona, watching out for white blonde top amongst the thick crowd of students. His height gave him an advantage of a clear view of her. After peeking inside a couple of compartments, Fiona quickly located an empty one for them. Marcellus gave her an appreciative raise of his eyebrow, impressed of her seeking skills. Though it was not much of a challenge to find one, it would normally take him a few minutes just to get through the narrow hallway of the trains filled with people. He pushed the sliding doors further so he can enter ans settled himself at the opposite seat beside the window. The loud whistle of the train that suggested their departure rang across the entire platform and he could see the late comers hurrying to get on the train. He didn’t bother starting a conversation because he was sure that soon enough, the curiosity of the girl facing him will pop up and questions will flow.

Fiona was excited when she saw Marcellus enter the compartment. She had actually stood up to go and find him, but now that wasn't necessary and they wouldn't risk losing this compartment. She sat back in her seat looking pleased with herself. She swung her legs back and forth (after all she was still too short for her legs to reach the floor) before looking up at Marcellus and watching him.
"What's your name?"

(OOC: My turn to apologize again, I have been busy.) His assumptions were right, but he was expecting a more sensible question from her, if not a little more complex than an eleven years old’s. Confusion drifted into his mind when she looked up to him and asked for his name. Haven’t I told her earlier? “I have no idea what your reasons are for forgetting, but haven’t I told you I was Marcellus a while ago?” he asked back rather than answering her.
