Post by Mayank Gehi on Aug 19, 2009 3:30:01 GMT 10
Back from the holidays, little change was noticeable about Mayank for the most of the people. He was still the same cold, and for some, mean person, who did not tolerate any nonsense in his classroom, or who did not allow anyone to cross the wall that separated him from the crowd, even at a time when he was very much included in it. But, in truth, behind that mask, there was another Mayank for whom the world has changed in the previous few months. And the credit for that only went to Tant.
It was Tant he was thinking about as he waited for the bell announcing the start of the class to go on. He pointed his wand at the door which opened the classroom door to allow the student to fill in.

Potions was the only real class that John ever attended, he wasn't good at Charms, or Transfiguration, he couldn't cast the mighty protective charms and spells they have learnt in the DADA classrooms. The truth was, he wasn't a very good wizard to begin with. That didn't really discourage John however, just because he was not good at one thing, didn't mean he wasn't good at another. Potions was the class where John shun like the morning star, he probably knew more then the teachers did, but that was only because he could read their minds and get the answers. But the truth really was, that Potions was John's favorite class.
No many people liked Potions, and not people understood its true power and magic. Just a few months ago he had brewed a Malecium Potion and performed a mapping creating a very rare, very potent potion only known as Incarnatia. If it wasn't for Beau, he would have been dead in the first place, but the potion had worked but it was a secret he would rather not share with this teacher.
John was skeptical about the different potion teachers, he rather not correct one, he had heard a bit about Mayank Gehi, a very deadly and powerful, fearful Potion's master. There could be a lot to learn from him, John just prayed he wasn't going to learn something silly like Cure Boils.
Not many students understood that Potion making was an art, a craft. A skill. A feat. A magic that very little wizards could ever understand, coprehend or even respect.
Potion making is a subtle science and exact art. As there is little foolish wand-waving there, many wizards hardly believe it is magic. John didn't expect many really understood the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, John wanted to learn bewitching the mind, ensnaring the sense, brew glory, and even learn how to put a stop in death.
This was the class all year John was waiting for, and now came his moment to shine, he stepped forward, smiling. He was the first to this classroom, and John took a quick look around. He let the small wisp of disappointment fade, thankfully, only wisps. John's eyes trailed across the dark room to find the Professor, Gehi. John felt like introducing himself, it wasn't that he was a kiss up, it was more to get a closer look into the depths of the man's soul. John sided against it and sat himself at the first row, but far away from the others.
John took out his books and laid them before him, it wasn't like he would need them, but if the teacher was going to critize how he was brewing, he could blame it on the book. John took one last, measured look to the teacher and nodded with approval. Something the other teachers have yet to receive.

Potions was the subject Krutika enjoyed most. And Mayank Gehi was a teacher she hated most. What an interesting combination. She still enjoyed potions, but was not sure about Potions classes. Krutika put her bag on her shoulder and made her way towards the dungeons. The atmostphere there was same cold and dark. She walked inside. There was only one other student there. "Hi," she said with a smile taking a seat.

John eyed the student curiously, a fourth year student. Ravenclaw, John gave a weak smile and said, "Hello."

Tant skipped and peeked inward of the door, she remembered she had promised Mayank she would attend one of his classes and watch how he taught, she wondered if he would allow Tant to learn Potions and make one also? she had brought a text book grinning she walked in like a student and stold beside Krutika and whispered,"boo" in her ear smiling.

Klera sulked wlaking into the classroom, she kept thinking. it's for a brand new broom, she thought blinking what the hell was the history teacher here for? she leant pver to spot Mayank up front and smiled at him before sitting back. she could see Krutika further up but Klera wanted to be in the back of the class so if she didn't make the potion right she might not be spotted.

Brandi sauntered in, a wide grin on her face. Waving to the good old grumpy Mayank she winked. She bet that he was already dreading her apparance. Brandi had never had great talent for potions, any spells came automatically to her, but the finesse needed for mixing dangerous fluids together never caught her.
Brandi in other words had melted cauldrons, created horrible smoke and had only achieved making one good potion. Which she recalled was a balm for her broom handle. Very simple to make.
Spotting John, she bounced her way over to him, "Hello Hello Hello!!" She smiled to him, "What a great isn't it?"

Koyal walked inside the dungeons. She was now used to the environment because of staying the Slythering Common room for years now, and it was sort of homey but she still wished it was more bright and welcoming. She nodded politely at the professor and looked around at the students already there. To her surprise, the history teacher was there as well. Was she here to observe the lesson? "Morning Professor Kemp," she said before she took a seat. She spotted John and smiled at him..

John blinked in surprise. "Yes... Potions is the only class I can actually accomplish..." John whispered under his breath and was even more surprised to see Koyal. John lit up, and waved her over. This was different.... Real different. Never has he before ever had friends, and now, look at this? Brandi and Koyal. Two slytherin girls, very beautiful and very friendly. John couldn't help but smile, and the emptyness in his center, evaperated ever so slowly into something warm. People say when Beau and him became something it was the start of his transformation, that his heart pumped and flowed once more with feeling, but today people believe, his heart grew three sizes too big. (OOC: Couldn't help but throw the Grinch in there )

Brandi grinned, "Oh goody! Well maybe you should watch out. Potions is like my worst class. and Maynack is already probably wishing he could turf me out" She chuckled standing beside his desk.
"I've blown up about 100 or so cauldrons in the room." She looked aorund for the ever so present black smear on the back wall. "yeah... they still haven't been able to get that one off. .... it's been there for a couple years now."

John laughed at this. It was nice knowing someone was bad at another subject. John may not be the best caster in fact he was probably even worse then Nevile Longbottom. Which is pretty sad. Come to potion making? That was John's forte.
John turned to the teacher, its been ten minutes, and still the teacher seemed just... John couldn't even discribed the man. he was a bit like Snape. john thought silently to himself. This... Should be interesting.

Ronit hated it but nowadays he had started appearing late for the lessons. Thankfully the class wasn't started yet. He walked inside the classroom and was most surprised to see Tant there. "Hello Miss Kemp," he said, "Hey Edward," taking a seat next to Edward and Krutika.

Marcellus was taking long, swift strides towards the dungeons where the Potions classroom was located. The shrill ring of the bell was surely minutes away, and he wouldn't dare to be late. He stopped walking at the room's door frame and peered in to see if the class was already starting.
Tension flew out of his mind when he saw that class has not yet began, and didn't look like it would start soon. Marcellus finally entered the room, giving the Professor a nod as he passed his desk. He took a seat at the back of the class and set his bag down. With his arms crossed, he did a quick count of the students inside. There were about 8 of them inside, all waiting for the Professor to start.
Marcellus obediently pulled out his book, quill and ink, and a roll of parchment from his rucksack and set it neatly on his desk. Loud talking could be heard from across the room and when he lifted his eyes to see where the commotion was coming from, he saw a girl happily chattering away to another student. The green linings and her tie clearly suggest that she was in Slytherin. With nothing else to do, he went on observing the young lass who has a rather... eccentric shade of hair.

Mayank watched the students filling in. He waited for sometime making sure all of them would be here. Usually, he wouldn't have cared and let the late comers suffer for their lack of time management but just for this once he had decided to wait. The Potions professor's cold eyes watched every one coming inside, and a look of amusement lingered in his usually cold eyes for a second as he watched Tant. If he had not been in classroom, he would have smiled. She had kept on her word and was in his class. This was going to be an interesting day.
Mayank patiently waited as the last student came in before he closed the doors of the classroom. "Silence, class," he said walking once again to the front of the class. "And it is Professor Gehi, Miss Monsoon," he added rather curtly as he passed Brandi's desk. He did not allow any student to call him with his first name in his classroom.
Reaching the front of the class he faced his students, his eyes scanning them. "Good morning," he said, "I would like to welcome Miss Kemp in our classroom." His eyes stopped on her before he once again looked at the students. "In today's class we are going to learn about Antidotes. Can anyone of you name the most preferred antidotes?"
