The sun was bright in the sky. There were few clouds. A great day for Travis to go and take a walk to the park with his camera and sketch pad. He rolled out of bed and looked out his window. There were a bunch of kids across the street playing tag in their yard. Travis smiled, remembering when he used to do that with his siblings. He walked over to his dresser and pulled out a pair of shorts and a tee shirt. He pulled on his clothes, put on his hat, grabbed his bag, and slipped on his flip flops. He walked out of his bedroom into the living room, where he was greeted by his two cats, Harmony and Melody. Travis smiled, petting them both. He looked in their food bowls and they were full. He walked into the kitchen to check on his collie’s food. He filled the empty food bowl, grabbed a protein bar, and walked out of the house.
Travis began strolling down the street. The neighbors kids that were playing tag screamed “Hey, Travis!!” as he walking by. He waved and smiled, but continued on walking. The park was a fifteen to twenty minute walk from Travis’s house. As he was walking, he was thinking about how much he liked their new house and neighborhood. They had moved here three months ago, but he never really realized how nice it was. It was close to everything, and was beautiful. He could lay on his front lawn and watch clouds go by, or stargaze at night.
He approached the entrance to the park and walked over to his favorite spot; underneath a lone tree by the lake. He placed his bag down on the ground and sat down, leaning against the tree, looking out on the lake. He took out his sketch pad and began to draw the lake and surrounding landscape, getting lost in the beauty of it all. When drawing, he could put his visions on paper, and make it seem as if it was real. As if he was really seeing it. As he started on the second tree in the distance, he noticed that more people were in the park. He continued to keep to himself, engulfed in his drawing.
